Democrats are Crumbling, RFK Jr. Makes Waves, and Cancel Culture is Over.
The World Is Changing, For Better And For Always...
Hope everyone is having a great day! Earlier today I had an idea for a newsletter for Independents. So many people all over the internet are either on the left or the right, and that means so are the newsletters. That’s not a bad thing, but I was wanting an experience that was more neutral, balanced, and appealing to the people who are seeking some more grounded perspectives. So, as it is in life, when you want something that doesn’t exist, you go and try to make it exist. That’s what this newsletter today is going to try to do! I’m going to share a couple key stories that I think matter to people all across the political spectrum, while trying to educate and inform others as we go along. So lets dive in!
Trump with Meet the Press: RFK Jr. and Vaccines
President Trump has sparked a conversation that’s gone as viral as it is controversial. Ever since he appointed RFK Jr. as head of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), there’s been nonstop attacks aimed at both of these men. Trump in his new Meet the Press interview set a foundation for an investigation studying the link between childhood vaccines and autism. Kristen Welker asks Trump point blank, “Do you want to see childhood vaccines eliminated?” To which Trump responds with, “If they’re dangerous for the children.”
The Alarm Goes Off
Trump in this part of the interview says, "Something’s wrong…” and shares later, “I want them to look at everything” referring to vaccines that are questionable. Now, to me this is larger than someone trying to fear monger, this is bigger than someone trying to find answers. What I see from President Trump is a direct image of someone who is sick and tired of the broken system, the financial capture, and has a team that is desperately prepared to do something about it. This isn’t just sounding an alarm, this is giving people an idea of what’s coming in Trump 2.0.
Do you think the Trump that we see today in 2024, is different than the Trump we saw in 2016? Is it ‘more of the same’ or is this the beginning of an unrecognizable second term? Tell me in the comments what you’re thinking or imagining about this future! 🤌🏼
The Democratic Party is Crumbling—Identity, Champions, and Trump
Ana Kasparian, known for her progressive views, has sparked a conversation by openly criticizing the Democratic Party, calling them out by directly saying that, “The Democrats have complete control, and they have nearly destroyed my family’s livelihood. We are living in trash and squalor everywhere.” When I saw this, I realized this isn't just a complaint, it’s a scream for help. A desperate attempt to get the attention of a party that once uplifted her values, but is now unrecognizable.
Is it too crazy to ask for a return to some foundational values of supporting the working class, affordable housing, and genuine healthcare improvements? Kasparian goes on to say, “unless the Democratic Party acknowledges these issues, solves these issues, rather than stealing our taxpayer money and funneling it to their nonprofit friends. They keep doing this, they’re going to keep losing.”
Let’s Zoom In A Bit…
When you take a closer look, this critique comes at a really profound moment in politics. It’s at a time where so many people feel like the Democratic Party is losing its juice, its edge, it’s North Star. I was talking to my friends recently and I jokingly said, “It’s almost like the Democratic Party is having an identity crisis,” and it’s true. Kasparian's comments I believe are very reflective of the market of perspectives among liberals who are frustrated with the party's direction, or lack there of. The Democrats, the party that was once for the working class, are now known as and criticized for policies that overlook normal people, and favor the elites. Again, a massive disconnect with their voter base.
The Democrats Champion
I was writing about this idea about the Democrats needing a champion. Someone in 2024 who could be what Barack Obama was in 2008. The more I think about this idea though, the more I realize that they don’t need a champion like Kamala Harris or Tim Walz, they need a champion that recognizes that the real champions are the American people. Fighting for what’s right and what’s good. People don’t want to see you, they want to see themselves. We saw that being expressed this campaign season with President Trump as he drove in a garbage truck, worked in McDonalds, and faced adversity time and again.
Ana ends this clip by saying, “We want working people to be rewarded for their hard work, we want affordable housing, we want better working conditions, higher wages, better health care, these are things the democrats used to purport to want to do, they don’t do any of it anymore. And so I’m done with them until they change their ways.”
Did President Trump win because he recognized that the real ‘champion’ was the American people?
Zachary Levi is NOT Cancelled: Hollywood, RFK Jr., and Culture
Zachary Levi recently sat with Bill Maher and in this conversation Bill could have sworn that Zachary Levi, primarily known for his lead role in Shazam!, had been culturally cancelled after he threw his support for President Trump.
Levi’s response? A clear and resounding no. Not only did he keep his current projects, but not a single studio or producers have expressed any concerns at the time of this writing.
Cancel Culture is Officially Cancelled
This is a big deal… Cancel culture is officially cancelled. The days of one mistake marking your life are gone. This isn’t just about an actor keeping his projects, this is about someone having the freedom to express how he sees the world without any resistance.
Is this just a Hollywood shift? You could say that, but I’d push back and say what happens in Hollywood might be making it’s way to you. Let me know if you think this was industry specific, or reflective of a real societal change that’s taking place.
When we debate sports it’s not a big deal, you can be for one team and I’ll be for another team, it’ll all be fine—no hard feelings! But when people start to share their politics, something extreme has happened in recent years. People have lost jobs, missed out on opportunities, and this only tightens up echo chambers and limits the diversity of perspectives. People have effectively put a chokehold of free speech by ‘cancelling’ people. All that is out the window.
There’s one other moment that happened here that was huge, it was when Zachary Levi opened up about RFK Jr. and truly the broader conversation of science and wellbeing, Levi shares, "Science should never, ever, ever be afraid to be challenged." I really believe this with my whole heart, I believe that this administration is going to “trust the science” and Make America Healthy Again. And this is going to be another pillar of the larger cultural shift. It’s not about being anti-anything, it’s about having the best information, the best science, and making the best decisions that will push humanity forward.
