Yes! The extremists are the squeaky wheels while most Americans are just trying to do what they need to do to get through the day to day trials of life--working, mowing lawns, packing lunches, taking their kids to music lessons or soccer games. They do not have the luxury of time, nor the inclination, to be organizing protests, rallies or parades on issues they can't even relate to, but are bombarded with messages that they darn well better care about them and comply or be labeled alt right or wacko left, this kind of phobe or that kind of phobe, racists or mysogynists et al. On the whole, we are a caring and compassionate people. Political extremists feed on this, take advantage of it and twist their narratives to entrap and manipulate with guilt and FEAR. The "middle" in "middle America" is not necessarily a financial class of people, it is a mindset. Our values are mostly simple and straightforward, but we've been pulled into whirlwind after whirlwind after whirlwind, tossed and volleyed about, and then spit out exhausted until the next one bangs at the door. We need a voice of reason to ground us again. Some of us have found that here in you, Adam, and this is a place of common sense to which we CAN relate. So keep up the good work. And to those of you who are not paid subscribers, is this young man not a valuable platform and mindset you want to have continue and grow? I know I do, and I encourage you to support him so we do not lose him.
Connie you are exactly right!! I really try to be the voice of reason. I’m not perfect here, but I really believe this is part of my design! Thank you Connie, for always believing in what we’re building here!! 🙌🏼
Politics is the art of posibility is said. This gives rise to oponents ever more willing to diferentiate from each other. Minorities, independents, etc. are often shunned as the most dispecable, often because they do not comply with dominant world views. Many conflicts, few conflict solving. You are rigth, Adam.
Adam, you are my favorite podcaster. Love the topics you focus on and the depth of your reporting. Your explanations make so much sense to me. Is there a way to donate directly to you instead of subscribing to your channel? I just learned that YouTube takes 30% of the subscriber fee. I prefer to support you via PayPal or something similar, but only if doing this does not violate any agreements you have made with YouTube or any other entity.
I really like Connie Gombert’s comment. For a very long time now, I have sensed that a dark, narcissistic type of energy has been descending throughout our governing agencies at all levels even down to our local attorneys. It seems that there is an epidemic of people who never have enough money and power and continually want more. Many of these are investors and gambling addicts. They use all kinds of tactics and strategies to scam money out of the rest of us who are simply trying to live an ordinary common sense life and are mostly content with what we have.
This dark energy existed in my immediate family and caused an unfortunate dynamic defined by mistrust, low self-confidence, anger, fear, and eating and drinking disorders. It has made me more aware of how this trend is also happening at our various levels of government as well as in other groupings such as churches and families. Once we become aware of this trend, we can choose to educate ourselves about narcissism and other harmful mindsets and how to protect ourselves from these influences. It is essential in these times, to engage in practices that keep our minds calm, clear, and aware as much as possible. This is a protective measure against manipulation, gaslighting, brainwashing, and other word salad tactics so that we don’t become another scam victim. It would be worthwhile to investigate why this is even happening.
No one is going to make us do any of this. We have to love ourselves enough to do our own work. With a clear and rested mind we can make wiser choices for our lives. We can also understand and tolerate others better. I am just realizing that this is part of a Spiritual Journey which I have already been engaging in. My sense is that our nation and the entire world are undergoing a Spiritual Transformation. It is up to the individual whether to participate or not.
